Revanta’s Mumbai Garuda started off with victory in Pro Wrestling League

Revanta group is happy to acquire team Mumbai Garuda for Pro Wrestling League which kick started on December 10 in New Delhi. The inaugural ceremony was a start studded affair with the presence of celebrities, politicians and renowned sports personalities.

Revanta group is extremely happy and excited to see Shakeel Siddiqui, a famous comedian supporting their team Mumbai Garuda. The league is a big event as cheer leaders set the stage on fire with loud music and cheering in KD Jadhav Wrestling area.

The opening ceremony was a complete starry event with laser show prior to the start of event which held back the crowd awaited for fight to start. Organizers successfully managed the event and announced the PWL open with wrestling action.

PWL, the Pro Wrestling League is step in transforming the age old sport of the country. Also, the event is considered to be richest wrestling event by ProSportify and Wrestling Federation of India. The maiden season of this event offers winning prize of rupees 15 crore that includes total prize of Rs. 3 crore. Pro Wrestling Leagues comprises of six city based franchisee teams from across the country. Each team has 9 players including 5 Indians, 4 foreign, 5 men, 4 women. In season 1, PWL will have 18 ties out of which 15 are in league phase, 2 semi-finals and the Grand Finale. Each tie will be played on the basis of 7 bouts formats which will be contested in league phase. PWL guarantees a minimum of 150 bouts. The tournament will be played according to the PWL Rules, conforming to UWW, the United World Wrestling and rules of WFI, the Wrestling Federation of India.

Sushil Kumar, who is a freestyle wrestler, opted out of the event at the last moment due to his injury. He also gave the opening ceremony a miss due to the injury he is suffering with. Pro Wrestling League will feature exciting and close shaved bouts with star players like Yoweshwar Dutt, Amit Dhankar, Geeta Pogat, Rahul Aware, Adeline Gray and Odaunayo.

Revanta group is confidant of their victory, as their team have Rahul Aware, who won the gold medal in the men’s freestyle 55 kg category, beating out Gilbert Musonza of Canada and Craig McKenna of Scotland.

Revanta’s Mumbai Garuda defeated veteran actor Dharmendra’s team Punjab Royals by 5-2in the opening match inaugural match of Pro Wrestling League (PWL) which took place at the Indira Gandhi Indoor Stadium on Thursday.

The first season of PWL, is designed with unique format where the winner of the toss in the beginning of bouts have privilege to block a men’s weight category and loser can block a women’s weight category. Considering this rule, the 65-kg category in men’s section was 48-kg category in women’s section was blocked.

The team enjoyed their first success in women’s bout with birthday girl Odunayo Adekouroye of Nigeria, brought another winning moment to Mumbai with her 10-2 victory over Priyanka Phogat in women’s 53kg category. Then, the three-time world champion Adeline Gray (69kg) crushed her Punjab counterpart Vasilisa Marzaliuk by 10-1. After the fireworks showcased by foreign beauty, India’s very own wrestler Sakshi Malik came into ring and gave Punjab Royal’s another losing moment as she defeated Geeta Phogat by 8-8.

Revanta’s Rahul Aware tried his best to clinch victory but his counterpart Vladimir Khinchegashvili made him loss the fight. Vladimir is the world reigning champion from Georgia. However, his victory didn’t help Punjab Royals to register win in the opening match.

Sakshi Malik, the 2014 Commonwealth Games silver medallist showed exit gate to her opponent. The bout was called finished with 8-8, but Sakshi’s best pointer (four) made her win.
